Addicted to CAS #47

This week at Addicted to CAS our hostess is the very talented and very lovely Sylvia and she has chosen the following keyword:

So what does 'Oriental' inspire you to make?

I went with an oriental pattern. I was thinking of oriental carpets and decided to go with black and gold as this just seemed the perfect colours for an oriental feel:

This week we are sponsored by Stamp Art Designs-check out their cool store for some fab digis.

And we are very happy that for the month of September Tenia will be joining us as our Guest Designer. Check out her blog Jazzy Paper Designs for some really funky inspiration and then go and get all Oriental on us and create!

Inkspirational #63

Its time for a new challenge at Inkspirational. We had a record number of entries in our last challenge and had a lot of fun visiting all your blogs. This week it is our colour challenge and these are the colours we have for you:

You can use any 2 of these colours or all 3. Any shades of these colours are allowed plus black, white and cream. You may also use realistic colours for skin, fur and hair but no other colours.

Here is my card using all 3 colours:

I got out my water colour pencils again and had a go at freehand drawing a butterfly and then using the watercolour pencils in our colours to create this card. I added a few white sequins as I felt it needed a bit more interest. I loved painting this and just went with the flow not really knowing how it would turn out!

Our DT have made a super collection of inspiring cards using these colours, check them out here and then get crafty!

Addicted to Stamps and More #107

Its Wednesday and that means it is time for our new challenge at Addicted to Stamps and More. This week we have the Make your Mark challenge, meaning that you need to use some kind of marker to make your project. You can opt for pencils, markers, crayons, paints, whatever you feel like creating with this week. I opted to use my water colour pencils and decided I would have a go at painting a scene. Now this is my first attempt at doing anything like this, so it is not that good but I enjoyed doing it and hoped it would show you that we can all try something different now and then and we don't have to be an expert to enjoy it!

I had a hunt on Utube for videos that might help me create a scene and found one on the Frugal Crafter. I like her videos as they are fun and she gives you lots of pointers. I didn't copy her scene as I actually didn't like all parts of it. I just took the bits I did and added my own twist to the painting. I decided to make it into a card and thought a black base was just the right look.

Our sponsors this week are Stamp Art Designs, check out their fab store here-some of these digis could be yours!

Now check out what our super DT have created to inspire you this week by popping over to our main blog at Addicted to Stamps and More

Inkspirational #61

It is time for a new challenge at Inkspirational. And this week it is our word prompt challenge and we have this word for you

So what does this word prompt you to create. I went a slightly different route than I had intended to go! I  was having another go at painting flowers with out using stamps with my water colour pencils. In doing this I had a happy mistake! Some of the paint splashed onto my card, I liked how it looked so splashed some more! So a slightly different take on the word but still a 'splash'.

I was inspired to make this card when I saw this video by Sanketij on her blog The Storyteller. She is amazing at painting and has some wonderful tutorials for those of us who are not so talented!

At Inkspirational our Guest Designer is the fabulous crafter Cinni. You can see what she has created for this challenge, along with the rest of our team here

Then it is time for you to splash away and have some fun!

More Rainbows and Butteflies!

Happy Tuesday all,

I finally have started crafting again after my hols! I have a card today to share that I loved making as I tried out something new to me and also got to play with my watercolours again! I was inspired to make this card when I saw the inspiration card at the new challenge The Cutting Edge. And it was actually this card by DT member Lisa that got me creating my card:

I meant to water colour rainbow colours but when I started I decided to just go with the flow and let the painting take me where it wanted me to go. I do love that about water colouring. And adding a few splashes is a lot of fun. When it was dry, I used a 'Happy' die sentiment to cut through my colours. Then.....this is the part I haven't tried before....I cut out lots of happy sentiments and glued them together to give some dimension. I so wanted to add gems or enamel dots but as I am entering this into a few die cut challenges I went with the butterfly.
I love the way this turned out and after finishing it I realised I had made another 'mixed media' card but CAS-who would have known!! (my texture is the base card as it is the egg shell card, although hard to see in the photo)

I am going to enter this into the following challenges:
The Cutting Edge Challenge-inspiration card using die cuts of some kind
AAA cards-water colour CAS cards

TIME OUT Challenge #9

Happy Friday Eve and that means it is time for out new challenge at TIME OUT Challenges.

It is our 'Inspired by Words' challenge and this week we have this phrase for you:

FUN IN THE SUN

You can be inspired by just one of these words or by the whole phrase. I decided to for the whole phrase as it seemed appropriate as I have just returned home from my hols (as long as the flight was on time!).

To create this card I looked on the Internet for a sunset image I liked. I then masked off some watercolour paper and had a go at painting with water colour pencils my version of the sunset! I do hope I got to see lots of these sunsets on my holiday (this is a pre-scheduled post!)

I am very excited that our Guest Designer is my blogging friend Carol. We met in blog land a few months ago and have become friends and often share crafting tips and tricks. I love her style and her blog Just Me:c is full of inspiration and crafty excellence.

Our DT have made some wonderful projects all inspired by 'Fun in the Sun'. Take a look at these at our main TIME OUT Challenge blog.

You have nearly 2 weeks to join in the fun and if you are a winner you will be asked to join us as a future Guest Designer.

Now take some TIME OUT and get crafting!!

Addicted to Stamps and More #97

Its time for our 'Make your Mark' challenge at Addicted to Stamps and More. That means you need to use some kind of marker, pencil, paint etc on your project. This week I stepped outside the box and had a go at some 'real painting'...well I say 'real'!!

I decided I wanted to have a go at drawing my own flowers and then water colouring them. Now I really can't draw but this one afternoon for some bizarre reason I wanted to leave the stamps aside and have a go!

I looked to utube for inspiration and came across this video and just went right ahead and gave it a go!

These flowers were hand drawn first in pencil then I used water colour paints to create the background. I then used a mixture of paints and water colour pencils to colour the flowers. This was my first attempt and I really kinda like it. I am going to try this again when I learn to draw something else!! The sentiment is from Stamplorations

We are sponsored this week by Eureka Stamps. Check out their fab store here.

And don't forget to visit our main blog and see all the awesome projects our team have come up with.

I am going to enter this into the Iron Craft Challenge-inspiration 1-trends. My card is inspired by the water colour paints photo.

Curing the Monday Blues!

Today I have been curing the Monday Blues with a spot of water colouring. Last week I saw the photo for the latest Fusion Challenge and loved the string of roses. I immediately thought of having another go at painting water colour roses...no stamps just 'real' painting! The challenge this week at Just Us Girls is water colouring, so this fitted in with my thinking. However thinking was as far as I got with this until I saw the photo at the Curing the Monday Blues Challenge-another vase of roses! All these little nudges made my mind up to act and think no more!!

I have made a couple of cards using this technique before but to be honest had forgotten how to do it! So I watched this fabulous video tutorial by Shery and then decided to give it another go. And this is my finished card:

I followed Shery's video except that I used a water colour pencil to add a little more definition to my roses. I fussy cut one out and popped it up on a foam pad for dimension.Naturally I managed to get in some enamel dots! I am quite happy with my card and enjoyed making it. There are no longer Monday Blues!!
