50 Years of Love!

Today my card is for a friend of my Mum, Mary, who is soon to be celebrating her Golden Wedding Anniversary-that is 50 years!! I will be 89 by the time Callum and I are celebrating our Golden Wedding Anniversary-lets hope we are both still here to enjoy it!!

It seemed to be the 'right' time to be making an Anniversary card as here on London we are all preparing for the Queen's Diamond Jubilee. So in a way I am flying the flag today!

I have been struggling with this card as I do love my CAS cards but knew that Mary would probably like a bit more of a fancy card. So a challenge this was!

I have been looking through sketches for a few days now. Finally I saw one today on Try Stamping on Tuesday  and ideas popped into my head. I hunted through my stash, found a few golden heart charms, some golden twine and gorgeous cream ribbon. I die cut a golden heart and a smaller heart from golden glitter paper-layered them plus a few extra bits and bobs to fancy it up. I am happy with it and really I think it is not too far from my CAS style just with a few twists for Mary!!

I will also enter this into the 'Anniversary' challenge on Anything Challenge and the 'die cut' challenge on House of Gilli

Thanks for stopping by x

Feeling under the weather?

Today is a first for me..........my first 'Get Well Soon' card. I guess it is a good thing that I have not had to make a card like this before. Actually this card is not for anyone in particular but will be kept in the 'you never know when you might need it' box.

I was inspired to make this card when I was checking out a passion for papertrey challenge site. The theme was 'under the weather' using a PTI product. And as I am now a proud owner of a few of their impression plates I had to have a shot at this challenge.
I used the woodgrain PTI plate and my new sizzix cloud dies to come up with this design:

Inside I have stamped 'Get well soon'. I rounded off all the edges to fit in with the curved cloud theme and the woodgrain is meant to reflect the streaks in the sky.........artist interpretation-right??

I am pre-scheduling this as I am on hols and I really hope I am not seeing clouds in the sky today, just blue sky and sunshine x

Another Wedding!

Well today I have another Wedding card to share however this card was a challenge. It really pushed me outside my comfort zone. I was asked to make a card for a couple to include their names, date of the Wedding and to reflect the work that they do. There names are Andy and Paula, they get married on the 9th June this year and one is in the Fire Service and one sales car-easy heh!!

I saw the challenge at retro sketches and was inspired by the this weeks sketch, so I had a starting point.

I found this spec a challenge but got around the problem of their jobs by using a car licence plate to reflect their jobs and the stamp I used from 'stampology' gave me the opportunity to put in the Wedding date and their names. Boy this was fiddly and did take quite a few goes to get everything in place.

Also I found this a challenge because a licence plate doesn't feel like it should be on a wedding card to me-so to satisfy my desire to make it 'feel' right to me I embossed cream card using another one of my new impression plates from papertrey ink, added a cream ribbon, wedding bells and gems from my stash.

And in the end I love the card and am quite chuffed with myself!!

See what you think...........

And I will also enter this into the 'Wedding' challenge at a new site I have discovered fashionista. Check this site out as they have a unique way of organising their challenges.

Have a great day x

Happy Birthday

Today is cas-ual fridays first Birthday plus it is the first week that my cousin Lynn joins the DT. So 2 good reasons to join in the fun!

This week the challenge was to make a Happy Birthday CAS card. This gave me an opportunity to try out my new Linen Impression embossing plate from papertrey ink. I have for a long time admired the cards Lynn makes with this plate and now I have my own. I love the subtle texture it adds to a card and it is perfect for a CAS card. So I stamped the sentiment and little candles. I used promakers to colour the candles and as this card is for a guy I used strong, vibrant colours. Then I used the impression plate, rounded the corners and there you have it!

It is hard to see the linen effect on the card but it is raining here and I couldn't get the right light to take the photo-I am afraid the photo does not do it justice........it looks better in real life (really!!)

I will also enter this into the 'texture' challenge at cards for men and the 'embossing' challenge at My Mums Craft Shop

Well the weekend is nearly here and as I am off on hols on Tuesday night I think I had better get some organising done. I have not done anything yet. I do hope to do a bit of crafting-fingers crossed.....it might help relax me and calm me when I am in panic mode!!

Runway Inspired

Just popping in to share my card today for this week challenge at Runway Inspired. Here is this week inspirational fashion photo-you have to love Christian Dior!!

I was immediately drawn to the pattern on her top and I have some new paper from stampin up that I thought was perfect for this. Also when I saw Christina's card from Runway's design team I loved her idea of the belt at the waist as an accent to the outfit. So I went with this and used a few strips of ribbon to split up my gorgeous patterned paper.

I have been doing quite a few CAS cards recently so this was a change and I just love the richness of the colours and how they blend together. And here we are:

Hope you like it and have a good day x
