Distress and more Distress!

A very happy Monday,

I had an idea for the 'distress' challenge at CASology last week when my laptop was driving me mad. I wanted to pick it up and smash it against the wall. I know you all know this feeling. What do you do when the computer is playing up....press control, alt, delete and cross your fingers! I was very distressed. Light bulb moment which led to creating this card using the sketch at CAS(E) this Sketch for my layout. If you have time and want a giggle carry on reading after seeing my card to see how distressed I really got making this card!!

The stamps are from CASual Fridays and inside the card I have used from the same set 'we all need a re-boot'. It will be a fun card for someone going into hospital for a minor op, to make them smile. I made a stencil after die cutting my splash die and just sponged with distress ink.

Now for the story behind the card:

Once I had the idea, this was meant to be a quick and easy CAS card-no. I got the stamps out and had a play so I knew where I wanted to position them. As I came to stamp them, I had lost the 'Ctrl' stamp. I looked everywhere for it-under the table, the bed, in every drawer. I was getting more and more distressed. And where was it-stuck to the 'delete' stamp. It took me over 30 mins to find.

While I was making the card I decided to run a bath and by the time I had finished the card the bath was freezing, so no bath.

There are a few other things that happened that made me more distressed making this but I won't bore you.

Today they seem funny and I like the card but yesterday I really was distressed with a card that should have taken me 5 mins!

Enjoy your day x

  1. Oh my goodness...I can visualize you at your craft desk searching for the stamp. That drives me absolutely crazy when that happens...and you missed a good bath! Love the end result though. So fun.

  2. Love the full story to this Sandie, I can totally understand your distress. I'm for ever loosing small stamps, so frustrating and you know all about my internet probs! Great end result. :)

  4. Yes, sometimes the simplest cards give us the most trouble. I hate it when I loose a piece in the middle of crafting. How sneaky of Ctrl to attach itself to Delete! Glad you found it in the end. The card came out fabulous!

  5. Very cool idea and design, Sandie! I am sorry to hear that you were distressed. Sometimes a card is truly a labor of love, no matter how CAS or not. Hope you are feeling better and not stressed! Wish you a Happy Leap Day! PS: stamps like to play tricks on us. I still have to find a tiny stamp that I lost in my own craft room...it simply flew out when I opened the package!!

  6. I find that the quick and easy cards I am going to just whip out before I do something else often cause me the most trouble and time. So, I really can relate to your story. My stamps have the nasty habit of sticking to the wrong things all the time. Glad it all worked out in the end, and you now have a great card for your stash. Thanks so much for playing along at CASology this week.

  9. I have days like that for sure - I laughed that it was stuck to the other stamp. My usual 'fix' for finding things is to start putting everything away. And sometimes, I find the lost stamp weeks later, attached to something completely different! Anyway, love the clever, original idea for your card! So glad you joined us at CASology this week, Sandie!

  10. Who would believe this was such a struggle to make for the queen of CAS? Encouraging to hear I'm not the only one getting side tracked and sometimes spending more time looking for my supplies than I spend on the actually making the card. Turned out great though!

  13. What a brilliant card! I can just see you becoming more and more distressed trying to find that 'ctrl'. I have done this so many times. Fortunately, most of the lost have shown up days later. Although I still haven't found the party hat stamp for for Bird Crazy Accessories set. Darn... how can they party without a hat? So, yes love your card & the story behind it. x
