Time Out #104

Hello crafting friends,

Time to take some Time Out and craft with Time Out Challenges

We are challenging you to be:

There are so many ways to go with this word but I went for Bold colours-not too original but this was a fun card to make.

Our sponsors for this challenge are Poppystamps and my card is made using their products. The butterfly die is one of Poppy Stamps-Embossed Heart Butterfly. I cut this using very thin red vellum so the hearts don't show up but I still love the look of this butterfly.

Poppy Stamps have a great store and it is a delight to visit and is packed with top quality goodies-take a look here. They also have a fab blog. Take a look at it here and sign up so you don't miss out on all the fun!

Starting today on their blog they are running a 'Clean and Simple' challenge. So if you have some of their products and make a clean and simple card for our challenge...then link it up to their challenge for a chance to win more prizes!!

Our Guest Designer for this challenge is Marieke. Her cards are so inspiring and you can check them out here

Marieke and the DT have all gone 'Bold' for you in their won special way-check that out here

Enjoy!

We're still Hot!

Hi There,

Rushing in with a late minute card for the 'Pun' challenge at CASology. I have wanted to join in this since it came out as I knew I wanted to use this sentiment!
3 hours to the deadline and here we are:

I just love this sentiment from CAS-ual Fridays and ladies I know many of you out there can relate to this!!

I know this looks really simple but the stamps, colours and design were chosen carefully. I wanted to use a stamp that felt like a hot flash-the way it starts from us being so cool-hence the blue enamel dot...then how it builds so quickly so we fill so hot and red! And how intensely this happens and then fades....the smaller blue enamel dots!!

I know if you have them, you can relate to this and if you haven't been there yet...just wait.

(I also know it is not fun and I hope I don't make any of you feel I am making light of this-I have been there and know it is not fun)

This card is still making me smile and giggle.

I made this for a very dear friend who I am meeting tomorrow. She is going through chemo every week and will be for the rest of her life. And she gets flashes like this all the time but we have a habit of laughing at it as it happens. And you know what, we meet to shop and drink coffee and spend the whole time laughing.

We used to work together and have become the closet friends. We really used to think we were hot looking chicks!! Now we are both quite poorly and clearly not too hot looking but we dress like we are still hot and in our minds we are!!

Probably gives everyone else a laugh looking at us!

Signing off with a smile today!

Also using it to remind you of our challenge at calling All Sistahs.-Encouragement card-I used the colours and it is going to make my friend smile!

Inkspirational #155

Hi All

Time for a new challenge at Inkspirational.

Our photo challenge this week.

Here is how it inspired me:

A closer look at the embossing using a stencil.

The photo that inspired it:

First off I used the stencil with a mix of brushos and cut the top open butterfly from this. Then I used the same stencil with embossing paste and cut the flat butterfly from this. You will see that I didn't clean the stencil very well after using the brushos so it got mixed with the paste-I like the look so didn't worry. After all this dried I covered it on WOS to give the sparkle.

Our Guest Designer for this challenge is the very talented Lula. Her blog is full of inspiring projects. Take a look here.

Then pop over to our main blog at Inkspirational and see what the talented DT have created using our photo as inspiration.

Less Really is More!!

Hello again,

I made this card for the 'dry embossing' challenge at Less is More

I know this card looks super simple but it took me an hour and a half to make. This is a long time on making one card for me. I won't go into the details of why but it took a while for me to get all the bits right.
Well then....to photograph it to show the embossing photo was painful too! I have taken a darker photo than I would normally want to but this was the only way I could show the embossing.

The die and stamps here are from Concord and 9th
I started off by dry embossing some white card with this dotty embossing folder. I then die cut the 'Joy' from this a number of times and build it up.
I dry embossed this middle section of the card with my fav linen embossing folder-you might need to zoom in to this as it was hard to show in the photo. I then popped this on foam pads on top of glitter card. I ended up using a textured card base which also looks like it is embossed.
So lots of subtle embossing done here and yet still a super CAS card!

I really do love how this turned out and IRL it really does look so textured with a touch of glitter!

Enjoy your day x

More Hearts!!

Hello There,

Popping in with a couple of cards I made at the weekend using my Heart Board Fri dies from Casual Fridays.
I had these dies hanging around on my craft desk since I made my hubby's Valentine card.

Thanks to Darnell's Twofer Challenge I got inspired to use them, making my hubby's 50th Birthday card and a 50th Anniversary card.

I used some sketches to help me with my layouts.

The light was not so good when I took these-I apologise for the photos!

First off the Anniversary card using the sketch from Freshly Made Sketches

I will add this card to:
CASology-Together -50 years of marriage really is together!

And secondly Callum's 50th Birthday card using the sketch from CAS-ual Friday Inspiration challenge. My card adjusts the sketch so it is not so symmetrical but I kinda like it like this!

Here I used a heart die from The Ton, stamping it in delicata ink. The sentiment is from Stamplorations.

Now I hope all the glitter will be gone from my craft desk!

I will also add my second card into:

And both cards to:

Calling All Sistahs #10 Challenge

Hello All,

I am here with our monthly Calling All Sistahs Encouragement challenge from CAS-ual Fridays. Our little bunch of Sistahs are all about raising awareness for Breast Cancer and would love you to join our monthly challenge.

On the 18th of each month we will start a new challenge with a new inspiration photo.

We all need a little encouragement now and then. Wouldn't it be great to have a stash of cards to send to a friend when they needed that encouragement from us?

Well that is what this challenge is all about-making those kind of cards for our friends near and far!

Before I go into how you join in this challenge, here is my card:

And the photo that inspired this card:

You can see I was inspired by both the colours and the photo. went for the coffee/kraft and red colours and the hearts.
I thought the puffy stamp heart really looked like the heart on the coffee!

My sentiment is actually heat embossed on the kraft and I distressed the edges of this card to add a little more interest to this very CAS card!

Here is how you play along:

1. Make an encouragement card inspired by the photo or colours or both.
2. Link up here by 12am EST on the 13th
3. Share with your friends and followers so we can get the word out about our challenge.

One person will win a $25 gift code to use on anything in the CAS-ual Fridays Stamps store.  All products are welcome, but if you use CAS-ual Fridays stamps or dies on your card, Michele will DOUBLE your prize!!!

My fellow Sistahs have all made amazing cards-check them out here and then get inky!

Make someone happy today with a very special card from you!

Enjoy x

I will enter this into:

CASology-together. My take on this is that it is only togther that we can spread the word about awareness. If we all work together, we can do this!

Calling All Sistahs February Reminder

Hello There,

I am here today as part of the Calling All Sistahs design team, to help raise awareness of Breast Cancer and the importance of doing that monthly self breast exam. It takes 5 mins-check out how to do that here.

Michele, owner and designer of CAS-ual Friday Stamps designed a special line of stamps and dies to help raise awareness of Breast Cancer-you can check them out here. Michele donates 50% of the profit from these to National Breast Cancer Awareness.

For my reminder card I have used some of these stamps:

Here I have used the CAS-ual Friday sentiment from the set Supercalifragilistic and the background set Full on Floral.
I heat embossed the floral background in vanilla and then used pink watercolour paint to give this ombre look.
I heat embossed this super sentiment in pink on to black card, popped it up on foam pads and then just added a pink strip of the card for a little extra touch.
I like the pretty but dramatic look of this card.

All our Design Team have made amazing cards-check them out here.

We would love you to go shopping from this range to help us raise awareness of Breast Cancer and if you do and use the code 'cas comfort' you get a discount!

Come back tomorrow as I will be here with our monthly 'Calling All Sistahs' challenge!!

Have a super day and don't forget to put 5 mins aside to do that self exam!

Have a fun day x
