A time for thanks

Today I have a thank-you card to share with you. This is for my Mother-in-law, Jean. I wanted to thank her for the lovely Christmas day we spent with her.

I made this card for the challenges at Less is More, Stars and stamps , Crafty Creations.

The flourish is made using my new 'big shot' machine and the sentiment is from Hero Arts.

Enjoy your day x

Today lets go for a bike ride.

Not such a good day to go for a bike ride here in London where it is raining, raining and raining some more!

This card is for my sister's friend who likes to mountain bike. Yes, it would be difficult to cycle up a mountain on this bike but I thought the digi image from Mygrafico was gorgeous and had to use it. I have also had this vintage cycle paper from my cousin Lynn (not sure where she got it) and have wanted to use it for while. And to make this card more 'girly' I added a pink ribbon and pink gems on the buttons and star (star was made using my new 'Big Shot' toy!)

I have entered this into My Time Made Easy Sketch #41

Used in card:
Mygrafico posh and trendy digi
Tim holtz distressed burnt corduroy ink
Memento sweet plum and tuxedo black ink
star sizzilits
buttons and ribbon from stash

Lets Dance

Just popping into share a quick card.

This is for a friend who loves to dance and what better dance is there than the Tango. Sorry photo a bit wonky (not due to Xmas cocktails I promise!)

I tried out some new digi paper from Cupcake Cuties and the Tango digi is from Delicious Doodles (such a cool name for a site). The sentiment is from Hero Arts.

I like the Vintage feel to this so have entered into the vintage Stamp and Create challenge and the Colour Q weekly challenge. And the colour challenge at The Sisterhood of Crafters was also perfect for this card.

Callum and I share our craft room-well it is really our spare room-and today we started our own challenge of sorting it out so we can both 'do our thing'. We only got as far as buying a storage unit then both got creating again-him his music and me this card. So tomorrow hopefully we will sort and create again.

Take care x

A bouquet of wishes

Hope you are all enjoying your Christmas.

Santa some how knew that I wanted a 'Big Shot' in my stocking this year. And because I have been a good girl this year he gave me a batch of goodies to go with it. So here is my first card using my new toy.

I used a textured Impression to emboss the pink paper and 2 different size petal sizzlits for the flowers. I found a button, in my stash, the exact same colour as the background 'stampin' up paper and just added some 'bakers twine' to give the card some added texture.
The sentiment is from Pink Petticoat

And here are a few photos taken on Xmas day.

First Callum and his Mum:

And now Callum and his Mum's partner, Joe, doing the traditional Xmas day 'boy' chore of washing up.

Spots and Stripes

Morning all

Are you ready for Xmas yet? Well I am done but I am lucky as I visit family on Xmas day so don't have a big food shop to do.
And tonight is my first Xmas Party this year. We are off to a neighbour's Winter Solstice party-the longest night of the yesr-although Winter Solstice is generally celebrated on 21st Dec, this year it is actually tomorrow. Traditionally this is a day to spend with friends and family. Traditions involve making Xmas presents with your kids, decorationg Xmas Yule Logs and bringing Holly and Mistletoe into the house. Did you know Holly is considered male-prickly with the fertile red berries and mistletoe being the femaie-soft!! Well I had to look all that but found it interesting as I didn't know any of that.

And onto my card-another card for a friend and this time I have used the same sentiment but followed  the spots and stripes Daring Cardmakers challenge.

I had a go at curved edges. I did it free hand and thought it came out o.k.

Enjoy your day x

I used:
Pink Petticoat digi bloomin sentiment
Stampin up paper
Flower and ribbon from my US cousin Lynn-not sure where she got them!
Kanban gem.

Friendship

Morning all,

My card today is for another of my Mum's friends (Mum has put in an order for a few friends and she chose the sentiments which are all from Pink Petticoat bloomin' sentiments)

I have entered this into Clean and Simple's sketch challenge and the 'Friendship' challenge on Crating When We Can

Today I wanted to share with you a photo of my Brother and his family-Lisa, his wife, Chloe and Holly-his daughters. I am sharing this for no reason except that it is Christmas and a time for family plus my niece e-mailed me this photo and I thought they all looked so gorgeous-it was taken this Oct in Turkey.

I have used in my card:
Pink Petticoat digi sentiment
Craft creations paper
Three kings ribbon
Glamour Glitter
button from stash
Woodware punch

Singing Sunday

Well it is another crafty Sunday in the Rodgers/Munro household. Callum is producing his music on his computer and I am sat in the other corner of the room covered in ink and glitter making cards. This is turning into a regular weekend activity for us-we did the same yesterday. We both love it and break off occassionally to have a cup of tea and see what each other has come up with. It's great-in the same room together but creating in different formats-cool hobbies!

So here is one of the cards I made:

I have had this paper for a while-a digi freebie from Craft Creations and have wanted to use it and when I saw this week challenge on Less is more I knew now was an opportunity. The challenge was to make a card project to do with Music and it had to be in the CAS style. I haven't decided if I will use it in a set of notelets or just send when I have 'just a note to say' !!

I have also entered this into Sparkles Forum challenge of 'anything but Xmas' -check out this link and you will see I won last week with my Xmas card for Callum and have a very gorgeous prize from Crafty Emma on its way.

And also when checking out a few websites today I joined The Stamping Boutique and look what you can win if you sign up and follow a few simple rules-if you do sign up please let me know as I get another go at winning for recommending you-and if you recommend someone you get another go.......so what are you waiting for:

For my card I have used:
craft creations digi paper
whispers wooden stamp
memento tuxedo black ink
'just a note to say' stamp 'wild rose' studio

Christmas has come early!

I have been MIA this week but do have a good excuse. My Mum and Aunt have been visiting and we have shopped for the last Christmas bits and below you can see us enjoying an early Xmas meal (not turkey but swordfish!!). Callum, me, Mum and Anne.  Yes we had crackers, silly hats and cracker jokes-well if you are going to celebrate, do it in style.

As the Xmas cards are done I found it quite refreshing to make a Birthday card for my Mum's very dear friend, Mary.
I was a bit low on inspiration so hunted through some challenges for a sketch and some colour combos. I chose the Cardabilities #44 sketch and the colour combo of pumkin pie, melon mambo, choc chip and bermuda bay on Colour Combo. Naturally I was drawn to the pink and brown-a combo I love-but it was a challenge to combine this combo with these shades of blue and orange. However I like to challenge myself with colour mixes that I feel won't go together then am excited when I can make it work plus I like the result!
I also chose a 'bingo' challenge on Stampalot to give me some ideas of what to add that 'something special' to my card. I chose the 'bingo' of flowers, a punch and a pearl.

And here we go............

I have used:
Pink petticoat digi 'bloomin sentiments'
Paper-craft creations, stampin up,
Stamps-martha stewart, woodware,
Gems and pearl-kanban crafts
Flower-recycled from a card sent to me by my cousin Lynn -check out her craft web here.

Have a good weekend x

New Year Nearly........

Well the tree is up and the house is decorated and boy does it feel christmassy. Last night we put on all the Xmas lights and lit all our candles to watch a cosy Xmas movie-what better way to start enjoying the season. Today I finally finished a Xmas project I have been working on for a while-a calendar for my parents with a different header for each month. It has taken a long time but has been fun and a chance to stretch my creative side. Today I am going to share the front cover with you-a CAS cover! I have used 2 digi images from Create with TLC. Just added some ribbon. I wanted to give it this clean and clear look as I felt it suited the image-a black tie party.
I have entered it into the challenges at Die Cut Dreams and Sketchy Colours

Enjoy the rest of your Sunday x

Xmas Tags

Just a quick note today as I have been busy buying the tree and getting the decs from the loft ready to spend all tomorrow decorating the house listening to Christmas carols.

But wanted to do a quick craft session before tea and as I have finished my cards (I know ....very smug!!) but I still felt like doing something Christmassy, I decided to have a go at making my own tags. The tag bases are actually luggage tags from our local pound shop. I decided to use up all those scraps of paper and old Xmas cards as I don't like to see waste and just mixed and matched to make a few tags. Added some ribbon and here we are:

Well I hear hubby making a Gin Martini so signing off-have a good night and a fab weekend x

Christmas Love

Today I am sharing the card I have made for my Husband Callum but first I wanted you to have a peak at him cooking Xmas dinner a few years ago. I was poorly and we had to stay home, just the 2 of us-and he ran out to the shops on Xmas Eve to buy the food. So to thank him I gave him this gorgeous Xmas apron! Mmmm.....not sure he was as happy as he looks but after a vat of Christmas wine he has forgotten quite how silly he looked!

And here is his card:

I saw this digi sentiment on the site 'Create with TLC' and had to have it-take a look at this site-it has some fab sentiments. I think this sentiment says it all. Christmas really is a time for love and a time to tell those people who mean so much to you how much you love them. And Callum is my true love and I am blessed to have found him (it took me a while but I got there in the end-nearly in my 40th year but heh who counts at that age)

I am entering this into the challenges on Victorine Stamps and Lexis creations and Sparkles Forum
Have a good Wednesday x

Twinkly Tuesday

Happy Tuesday,

What a gorgeous day it is here in London-sunny, bright and chilly. A perfect day for walking in the park then getting cosy at home and crafting.
Today's card is for My Time Made Easy sketch #38 challenge.

I have used this funky Xmas tree stamp again and added the bling and some ribbon and here we are:

I'm pleased to say that I have nearly made all my Christmas cards-just a few to do then what is next.....dare I say....Valentines-at least that is only one (well I am hoping it is only one for most of you-and if not......lucky you!!!)

Merry Monday

Another week is here and another day closer to Xmas-20 to go!

So today I went back to making Xmas cards and here is one to share:

This is for the Less is more weekly challenge. This week it is a green CAS card. I love this carol christmas paper from Craft Creations plus their deep green paper. I made the tag using a card my cousin Lynne (check out her blog here)  sent my Mum-just used the base and added my own papers and green button.

Off to do another card-have a good day x

Sunday 4 December 2011

Lucky Sunday

Happy Sunday to all,

Today I wanted a change from Xmas cards and saw the Tic-Tac-Toe challenge on Cas-ual Fridays. I decided to make a card using the kraft/orange/polka dot combo. My friend has just got a new job starting after Xmas and I wanted to make sure I made her a card now before the madness of Xmas. And here we are-my CAS tic-tac-toe good luck card:

Here I have cut our heart shapes from green polka dot paper (quite hard to see polka dot from photo but it is there!) smudged some 'momento potters clay' ink on the edges. Added a green button from my stash and some 'holiday green Three Kings' ribbon and stamped a good luck sentiment. This is my first go at rounding corners!

And as some of you know I have been having my kitchen re-done and had a disaster with the floor. Yesterday I had it re-done and this time it worked! I finally have the kitchen I want. And look at the gorgeous red and black mix-I think this should be an inspiration for one of my cards.

We do have the smallest ever kitchen but heh who cares-its funky!! Want a sneak...........

Enjoy the rest of your Sunday x

Sparkly Saturday

Another Xmas card to share. This one is for a sparkly Xmas. And here you are:

You can't see too well on the photo but I have layered the ribbon-a thin blue ribbon on a thicker silver ribbon-I got this idea from watching a craft show on T.V. I thought it was such a simple idea but looked effective so decided to give it a go.

I have been making a crafty Xmas present that has taken up most of my time (I will share soon!) but yesterday I decided I needed to get another Xmas card made. I have had this snowflake for ages and have been wanting to use it on a CAS card so looked through some challenges to get inspiration. I found smowflakes and bling challenge at CCEE Stampers and a ribbon challenge at DYSU . Both perfect for this card.

Today I am having a new kitchen floor laid so there will be lots of drilling and smashing so I am off to a local craft fair to see if I can find some craft stock and later I will tackle that craft Xmas present and hopefully do one more card. The end of the day will be a G and T and a movie with hubby.
So that is my Saturday-what are you up to?

Used in the card:
Memento ink
Stampendous clear mini holiday stamp
Woodware stamp
Whispers 'starry starry night' ink
Stampin' up paper
Kanban bling gems

Bling Tuesday

Really getting through the Xmas cards now. Have about 5 to go and then my husband's-can't decide what to do for that yet but it is a work in progress!

Today I have 'blinged' a card for the challenge on Less is More. This week the challenge was to 'bling' a CAS card. And here is what I came up with:

I have used:

Woodware Xmas stamps
Three Kings ribbon
Memento 'tuxedo black' ink
Promakers
Kanban self adhesive blings

Have a good Tuesday x

Hang up your boxers!

Happy Monday to all

Chilly here in London so its a good day to stay inside and craft.

Today I wanted to make a Xmas card for some 'boy' neighbours. I already knew the stamp I wanted to use-not a Xmas stamp but I love this stamp and it is ideal for a guy card. So add a few Xmas colours and a bit of sparkle and you have a Xmas card. Went hunting for a sketch and tried out this week challenge on card positioning systems

I have used:

Little claire stamp, woodware punch, promakers, momento 'tuxedo black' ink and whispers 'starry starry night' ink, glamour glitter and kanban self adhesevive bling and buttons from my stash.

And here is this same stamp in a Birthday card I made last year;

Sunny Saturday

Morning all

Sunny here in London and just off for a walk with a friend but before I go just wanted to share another version of the 'Pear Tree' card. This one I am entering into Tuesday morning sketches #121 . Exposure not so good-still working out how to take photos best now it is dark so early.

 Used:
Pink petticoat digi stamp
Making memories snowflake brad
Happy hippo star brads
promakers
whispers 'starry starry night' ink for edges of digi stamp
Three Kings red ribbon

Partridge in a Pear Tree

Hi All

First my card:

I decided to enter my first 'Bingo' challenge where you have to choose 3 items from a grid of 9 and use them to make a card. I chose a brad, ribbon and digi from the Just some lines blog.
I have used a pink petticoat digi image-pear in a partridge tree, a 'Three Kings' ribbon and a 'making memories' pewter snowflake brad.
Also today I decided to add to my family gallery of photos. A gallery I have of all the people that are close to my heart. I have had these photos of my Aunt and Uncle, Johnny and Anne, for some time and I have finally printed them out and framed them stamping this gorgeous sentiment (you can't see it so well but it says 'walking hand in hand forever'). Johnny passed a number of years ago but still remains close to my heart and this photo of him hiking really catches his fun spirit. Anne is a very dear person and we have grown closer over the years and this photo of her and Johnny reminds me of how much I love them both.

Now I need a photo of my other Aunt and Uncle, Tony and Mary , but they hate having their photo done so I am still hunting for a good one to frame.

More from Craft Sunday

Just popping in to share another card I made on Sunday. This is a Xmas tree stamp that I have been wanting to try. It has a contempory feel to it. I stamped it and then cut it out and stuck it onto this white paper I have also wanted to use-have had it for ages and just didn't seem to be able to use it but thought it went well with this card. I am not sure what you call this paper-I am sure you bloggers out there can enlighten me?
Just added a Xmas green ribbon and some gems. Decided the card needed nothing else on it so the sentiment is inside x

Crafty Sunday

Today I have been crafting nearly all day-hubby is working at home so I thought I would take some time out and craft.

Here is one of the cards I made today:

Another CAS card. Before you think I am becoming addicted to this style, look back at yesterday's card-see not a CAS card!

On this cards I used a 'Three Kings' ribbon, clear stamps from Joanna Sheen and the holly decoration was one I used last year and can't remember where it is from-sorry.

I have entered this into 'Just Us Girls' #166 colour challenge and 'Really Reasonable Ribbon' weekly challenge to make a Xmas card using ribbon.

Hope you all had a good Sunday and enjoy the week ahead x

Saturday 19 November 2011

My first Tag card

Today I had a go at using a 'tag' in my card. I saw the Clean and Simple sketch challenge #166 and decided to give it a go.

Photo is a bit wonky but I promise I had not had a few wines-I'm just not the best photographer.

I have used the Hero Arts 'say it' digi kit to make the tag, Craft creations Xmas and brown carol paper, Joanna Sheen wordy 'peace' stamp and versa magic cloudy white ink for the snowflakes and the holly is from my Xmas left overs from last year!

Have a good weekend x

Tuesday 15 November 2011

Hello again

Well here are some more postcards that I made for my Aunt.

Not a great photo but the background paper is a pale lilac and the flower is made using a woodware punch and bakers twine is used to make the stem. The wording is from the Hero Arts 'say it' digi kit-getting used so much at the moment thanks to the recommendation from my U.S cousin Lynn (check out her blog).
I made 5 of these all with different colour flowers and sparkles.

Here is another one:

I will add these to 'Just a note' cards,to make a 10 notelet pack as my first ever crafty Xmas present!!

Monday 14 November 2011

Just a note.........

Happy New week to all,

My card today is part of a set I have made for my Aunt's Xmas present. She asked for postcards that she could use to just pop through her friend's letter boxes that didn't have to be in envelopes. So I had a think and came up with a simple  CAS postacrd that I added lined paper on the back for her quick note.

I made 5 notelets all with this sentiment and stamp but slightly different decorations-here is another:

And the back is simple but I think she will find useful:

I will be boxing them in a clear notelet holder with 5 other postcards for her-this time I have chosen the sentiment 'hello'-not sure what the design will be yet but watch this space.

These cards I used the Hero Arts 'say it' digi kit, a wooden Whispers stamp, momento ink, bakers twine, various buttons and sparkles.

Sunday 13 November 2011

Thanks a Bunch Mum and Dad xxx

Today I made a card to send to my Mum and Dad. They came up to visit last week. Well I say visit-what they actually did was work! They painted my new kitchen-woodwork, ceiling and walls. Woodwork inside and out. They worked solidily for 2 days and I now have a gorgeous kitchen thanks to all their hard work. And when Mum was told to get out of the way by Dad she went onto our patio and planted all my pots with bulbs-so we will have a gorgeous outdoor space come spring. Now I know what you are thinking-why was I not doing the painting.......well I am not too hot at the D.I.Y plus we need to keep Dad busy. I was in charge of pouring the G and T's come 5pm and the wine as the evenings went on!!

I made this card using my new Hero Arts say it digi kit, a flower stamp and to add some flourish a brown ribbon and some sparkle embellishment.
I entered this card into Card Makin' Mamas challenge to make a Thank you card, crafty purple frog challenges to make a card with orange in it and finally Hero Arts add some bling challenge

And for the card............

Wednesday 9 November 2011

Another CAS card to share today.
I made this card for the pretty palette My Time Made Easy colour challenge to use light pink, olive and brown. Now I love pink and brown but olive-well I was not too sure about this combination but decided to challenge myself!

So here is my CAS card with light pink, olive and brown-what do you think?

Again I used the pink petticoat bloomin' sentiments and woodware punches to make the flower and leaves. The stem is wire found in our toolbox!

I gave this card to a friend you needed a little reminder that her ideas have achieved great things and meant so much to many people.

Have a good day x

Sunday 6 November 2011

Smiling Flowers

Today I have had another go at CAS cards. In honour of our local community 'bulb planting day'-neighbours get together in our local park and plant bulbs so soon we will be surrounded by flowers

This first card I have entered into the Colour Create challenge. The colours this week are 'hot pink', 'turquoise' and 'ivory'.
I have used the 'Bloomin' Sentiments' digi stamps from Pink Petticoat and the flowers and brads are from my stash of goodies.

I just love the colours in this challenge and hope that the CAS effect works.

And another flower card this time made for yet another Anniversary! And this time I have entered it into the Less is More colour challenge. This week challenge was for Bonfire Night-a fireworks colour theme of red and orange. Again I used the Pink Petticoat bloomin' sentiments and goodies from my stash.

Keep an eye out over the next few days for 2 more flower themed cards.

The secret of Marriage

Morning all

I am being super prepared and yesterday made my Mum and Dad's Anniversary card which is not until the end of the month but with Xmas approaching and all those cards to make I wanted to get ahead.

I decided to use a funny digi print again from Bugaboostamps. My Mum and Dad have been married-I think-48 years and they have the strongest and most loving marriage I know. However, as all of those married people out there know.....we are not sure what makes it work! It remains a secret to us all!!

So for the card:

I entered this into the craftycardmakers colour challenge that this week was pink, brown and cream. I really like pink and brown together so when I saw this combo just had to give it a go.

And here are my Mum and Dad in Dominion Republic this Jan-Callum and I went with Mum and Dad and we had a great time. I love my Mum and Dad dearly, they have always been there for me and I have truly been blessed to have such caring and fun parents.

All I want for Xmas is...............

Shoes and Handbags!!

Last week I purchased a new digi stamp from Pink Petticoat. It is their 'Diva Delights' image stamp and is a perfect Xmas image for all my girlfriends and sister-all who love shoes and handbags. Some of them like shoes, some handbags and some just can't decide-is it shoes or is it handabgs?? Luckily their are images to suit all their preferences.

This first image is for my girlfriends who love handbags-like Sharon who has a secret underbed drawer full of bags hidden from her husband!

Here I used a white blank card and embossed black card as the background (hard to see from the photo), then inked some more white card before some Xmas red card. I used a 'woodware' punch on the corners. I printed and coloured the image on white paper adding red ink to edges. And to finish a black ribbon and embellesment for sparkle.

The second is for those girlies who just love both bags and shoes:

This time I decided to change the colours around and used a black blank card as the base. I used bakers twine instead of ribbon and a 'making memories' pewter snowflake brad to hold the twine in place and add more of a Xmas feel and naturally a pearl for sparkle. I think this one will be for my sister.

I had used another image but just with shoes for those girlies who never have enough shoes.........

I have entered this into Crimbo Crackers fortnightly challenge.

I used in this card:

Bakers twine
making memories brads
Whispers archival ink-cherry red
Promakers
Pink Petticoat diva images
Three Kings satin ribbon

My first CAS card

CAS-yes it took me a while to work out that this means 'Clean and Simple'. Crafters in blog world are always using it and when you are new to blogging it can be confusing. But now I am getting into the lingo and have made my first CAS card. I saw a challenge on 'Less is more' to make a CAS card using polka dots. I also saw the supply challenge on 'dancing in pajamas'-this week you had to use acetate ias part of your design. I decided to go with a Xmas card and used a clear acetate with black polka dots over white card and tried to give it a CAS feel by using a simple Xmas stamp. I am really happy with the clean look of this card and will definetly try CAS ing again.

Autumn Wishes

I love the colours of Autumn. Today I walked in our local park and the trees were bursting with autumn colours and the sun was shining-a perfect time to breathe in the fresh air and stroll through the park.

This week 'Tuesday Trigger'  from 'Moxie Fab world' is a real Autumn colour inspiration so I have entered my card into this week challenge-and here is the Moxie trigger

I decided to make a card with Autumn as an inspiration and have entered it into The Play Date Cafe colour challenge.
Also I have entered it into the Daring Cardmakers sketch challenge-my crafting friend Sharon (check out her blog) is on the DT for this site and said I should try out this sketch. I was a bit unsure but I gave it a go.
Hope this inspires you all to take a walk and enjoy the colours of Autumn.
