Celebrate May!

Welcome to May!

I made a card last night inspired by a few challenges.

First the card:

I was browsing blogland and came across this dramatic and stunning dress at Runway Inspired Challenge

Wouldn't you just love to wear this?

This dress reminded me that at Addicted to CAS the code words are black, white and gold.

I then saw the sketch at CAS(E) this Sketch and was inspired by Leigh's use of vellum, check it out here

With all this inspiration...crafting I went!

Enjoy the first day of May!

Time to Celebrate

The weekend is here at last!

Here is my card for you today...can you guess what photos inspired it??

Guessed?

Here we go:

Vintage pocket clock showing five to twelve. Happy New Year 2015!

I saw these 2 photos and knew I wanted to create something for both of them. I wasn't going to make one card until I saw this card from Michele who is GD at CAS(E) this sketch this week. It was her use of the clock that inspired me to combine these 2 photos using the sketch this week. Thank you Michele!

I hope it is obvious which part of the photos it was that inspired me but a less obvious touch is that I used vellum as a hint to the gorgeous chiffon skirt.

Have a fun weekend x

Gold Glitter Ink!

Have you tried gold glitter ink?
I first heard about this on Tracey's blog. I loved the look this ink gave and hunted to down and now have some. It is called Delicata Golden Glitz. It looks like it has been embossed not stamped-thank you Tracey!

Here is my card today using my new ink:

My butterfly stamp is from the Uniko stamp set 'Bright Butterflies' and the sentiment is also from Uniko 'English Country Garden'-I have embossed the sentiment but the butterfly is all ink!!

I was inspired to make this after seeing a few challenges. The sketch came from a new challenge to me Always Playing with Paper-Challenge #19 and the photo at Runway Inspired is where my idea of gold and a strip of vellum came from (check out the gold striped dress).
I will also enter this into the glitter challenge at Make My Monday

And I will take this opportunity to remind you that the challenge at Uniko Studio this month is Anything Goes with an optional sketch and you can use any stamps you like and be in for a chance to win Uniko Stamps.

Sandie-you are here!

It is my last day as the Guest Designer for Uniko Studio and I have a couple more cards to share with you using the release stamps.

First up is I am showcasing 'Flower Power #6' with a sentiment from an older set 'Flower Power #1'

I was inspired to make this when I saw the picture at Fusion this week. I loved all the pale colours with the pops of blue and green, plus I did loosely use the sketch this week-quite unusual for me but it was my starting point when creating the design. The picture at The Runway Inspired challenge this week also helped me develop my idea of the vellum-it looks like the model's top-see photo below

This time I stamped the base of the flower in the pops of colours from the Fusion photo directly onto the card base. I then used the second part of the flower stamp embossing it on vellum with white embossing powder. I tried to curl the edges of the vellum so you would see more of these Summer colours. I popped these up on foam pads to give dimension. I looked at the card for a bit but decided something was missing and three little black gems sorted this for me. The linen impression plate gave the card more texture.

This Flower Power set is full of possibilities and well worth popping into your shopping basket!

I will enter this into Fusion-see photo and sketch below and the Mixed Media Card Challenge with a Summer these-mine being flowers and colours.

Now my second card for you today using the new 'Sweet Baby' stamp set:

I have again used white embossing but this time on this cute little baby suit. I think this is the first time I have embossed on to patterned paper but I thought it would give the soft look I wanted for a baby card. I used vellum again but this time stamped the sentiment directly onto the vellum. As I had no more of this patterned paper I decided to add my own outline of white dots onto the blue card using a white pen. I got the layout for this card from this week's sketch at STAMPlorations-see below.

I have had such a fun week being GDT for Uniko Studio and thank Bev for giving this honour. I hope I have inspired you along the way and have got you to do some shopping!!

Now it is time for you to go staright over to the main Uniko Studio Blog and start hopping!

I did it!!

Today I have made my last card for Jackie's Pantone Colour Challenge. The deadline is tomorrow so I have just managed it. The final colour I had to do was Monaco blue and I have been thinking all week about this and have struggled. Inspiration was still escaping me this afternoon so I decided to browse a few of my favourite challenges. And it finally happened........3 challenges all seem to speak to me and off I went and created this card (the photo is not so great but the dark nights are drawing in and I didn't want to wait until tomorrow to share this with you......sorry I was just excited I had finally cracked the last colour!!)

(hover over the image and click on the pin to save to pinterest)

Now the 3 challenges that inspired me:

  • Runway Inspired-I took my inspiration from the netting and the blue pattern on the dress-I just reversed the colours. And added a tag of silver/white mesh to represent the netting.
  • Festive Friday-I have been following this challenge and my favourite blogger and cousin Lynn enters regularly and I have been wanting to join in but this is the first time I have! The challenge is Silver, White and Blue. My medallion is actually heat embossed with silver snow white embossing powder that does sparkle a bit more IRL.

So, Jackie...........I have done it! And if you still haven't joined in the fun to win a custom designed blog header for you or a friend then check out the details here. You don't have to do all 10 colours, you can do just one as the it is a random draw.

Enjoy the rest of your day my crafting chums x
