Hi All
Our New challenge at Inkspirational this week was chosen by the very creative and super fun Kim. The challenge is:
Watercolour Smooshing
Kim provided us with this tutorial to help us with this technique. I am not good at this kind of technique and it is only the second time I have tried it (the first time is for a DT card coming out in June!). I did follow the tutorial but used watercolour paints instead of distess inks. I also heat embossed the sentiment first in copper. I am not so happy with the look-a little too messy for me but when a teamie challenges me.....I have to give it a go!
I made this card for my Brother who was starting out on a new Business venture. I am very proud of him and he always strives to achieve what he wants in life even if it may seem impossible at the time.
Our Guest Designer for this challenge is the very talented Henriette. I have recently started following her and her blog is full of inspiring projects-check it out here
Our DT are far better at this technique than me, so if you want to see how it is really done, pop over to Inkspirational.
I will enter this into:
Enjoy x
I LOVE this sentiment and the splash of color is perfect Sandie!
ReplyDeleteI think your sentiment turned out beautiful and this card is lovely!
ReplyDeleteWell, Sandie, you've mastered the technique! It turned out beautifully and makes a wonderful background for your very cool sentiment. I really like this one, and will encourage you to make even more! Have a great weekend. Bev
ReplyDeleteBeautiful card, Sandie. Love your background--my smooshing never comes out that well.
ReplyDeleteI think your card has a pretty watercolor look to it for your beautiful copper heat embossed quote. TFS and joining us at CAS Mix Up. P.S. You might like trying a piece of acetate better than a plastic sandwich bag...more control.
ReplyDeleteYou did a great job of watercolour smooshing, Sandie! Love the soft colours. The copper embossing looks amazing on your background. And what a great sentiment for someone starting a new venture. Good luck to your brother! And thanks for sharing with us at CAS Mix Up! xx
ReplyDeleteI think the thing with the smooshing is you can't really go wrong and I love the gentle colour mix you've done.Nice way to say good luck to your brother. BTW, thanks for your message and lots of love.
ReplyDeleteTo me this looks beautiful, I love how the texture of the water color paper comes true the way you smooshed your paints, very pretty!
ReplyDeleteAs the saying goes "practice makes master" or something like that. But sometimes you just have to decide how much you want to practice ;)
ReplyDeleteHuge hugs for my CAS teamie!
Such great smooching, Sandie, and a perfect card of encouragement for your brother! You are very thoughtful!! Hugs, Darnell
ReplyDeleteSure, this technique will leave a kind of messy look, but your card is still ultra CAD and it's not at all a messy design:)
ReplyDeleteLove the grungy effect you made with this technique! Beautiful these sift colours! Hugs, Gerrina
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely beautiful smooshing! Just love the colors and your sweet sentiment.
ReplyDeleteThis isn't messy at all but very artsy, Sandie! What a wonderful sentiment for your brother! Thanks so much for sharing this with us at CAS Mix Up!
ReplyDeleteWhat a cool effect your smooshing gave! Love how you paired it with that long sentiment.

Yes, I certainly share your smooshing-challenge perspective and 'nearly' gave up, but so glad I persevered! Your smooshing is fabulous; a great colour combination perfect for the sentiment! You're a marvelous sister with your encouragement and support for your brother! Hope his new venture is a resounding success in every way! He'll love your card, as do I!
