Happy Little Stampers June CAS Challenge

Hello Crafting Friends,

It is time for our monthly 'Clean and Simple' challenge at Happy Little Stampers

This month we want to see:

Clean and Simple cards using the 'smoosh' technique.

Here is my card:

I have never tried this before and had to watch a few videos before attempting this for the first time. You can check out some videos on our main blog here.

First off I heat embossed the Eiffel Tower stamp from the Happy Little Stampers set 'Wish You Were Here' (my sentiment is from this set also). I then used an acetate sheet to mix up some barn door distress ink with water and smooshed it over the image. I then did the same but with yellow water colour paint. I just smooshed it all around, let it dry and mounted it all on a black card base. It is a different card for me but I do like the effect. It was sent to a very dear French crafty buddy who I thought might like my first attempt at a new technique...even if it was to have a giggle!

Our DT have all made super cards to inspire you-take a look here and then get inky

The winner will get a $15 discount from the store

  1. You've picked a great colour combo for this - looks great with the eiffel tower. Great to see you yesterday. Maybe you could come back to Hertford soon , and I may even show you round the 'village'.

  6. I think your first go at smooshing does not look like a first try at all, this looks fab and is a very interesting background for the Eiffel, very artsy!

  7. The effect looks so great! It is really a technique without a lot of control and everytime a different effect... Love the colours you used! Enjoy the weekend!

  8. Beautiful card Your background is very holiday. Hot summer colors and lots of traffic makes me miss my vacation. Very beautiful background for the Eiffel.

  9. I've done this a few times, some backgrounds I like how turn out, some not, but it's fun to get this kind of messy and making something different. I think you got the colors right and it looks perfectly 'randomly organized' :)

  12. You already know how awesome I think this card is Sandie ... most especially so because I get to hold it and admire it IRL (an honour, my sweet friend, thank you!). Fantastic smooshing (first attempt or not, it's brilliant!) ... has me imagining fireworks going off behind the Eiffel Tower ... so deliciously CAS and celebratory! Hugs, Anita :)
